Face Candy/Eyedea Benefit @ The Loft Tonight!

The death of Micheal "Eydea" Larsen last year left a tremendous rift in the Twin Cities music community. It also left friends and loved ones the task of dealing with the emotional as well as financial costs of his passing. To assuage this, Chazin Entertainment presents a benefit show at the Loft at Barfly featuring Unknown Prophets, Kill the Vultures, Carnage the Executioner and Desdamona, among other hip hop luminaries (as well as live painting, break dancing and a documentary on the making of Face Candy). All the proceeds from this event go to Micheal Larsen's memorial fund. Good music for a great cause!

Prolific musical multitasker Andrew Broder is back after a short hiatus with a new BrodR beatcast. Peep the technique here or below!

Mystery Palace-Nervio EP

Blending a tinkerer's sensibility with all-pro musical chops and 80's chic, Mystery Palace occupies a singular niche in today's music. Experimental daredevil's dangerously on the brink of commercial euphoria, Ryan Olcott (keyboards, vocals), James Buckley (bass) and Joey Van Phillips (drums) teeter toward pop stasis without succumbing, perhaps due to their quirky dynamism and dedication to deeper musical purposes. Palace's new EP Nervio reflects their radical interpolation into these times to a tee. Also a sign o' the times, you can download it for free here! The group celebrates their new release (with commrades Dosh and Soviet Panda) Friday, August 12th at 7th Street Entry!

Four Tet-Locked & Separator Remix

Four Tet is busy of late with a forthcoming Fabric mix which includes his mesmerizing track "Locked" (also to be released as a single on his Text label) and an equally engaging remix of Radiohead's track "Separator." Enjoy!

Low-Gain's Honey & Slam Factory Bootlegs

Low-bit and modular synth colossus Low-Gain has uploaded live recordings from recent performances at Honey and the Slam Factory for your streaming and purchasing pleasure (see here or below). Isaac Halvorson's excellent direct audio recording from the Eyeo Festival closing party presents as fine a specimen as you'll find of the electronic music culture presently thriving in the Twin Cities. An audience recording from the Slam Factory drives the point home. Experience and participate Wednesday, August 10th at Honey as Low-Gain performs in a tête-à-tête clash of the titans rumpus with Ostracon. Raucousness at it's finest to be sure.
