Eskimo Spy-Plastic Single

Prolific Minneapolis producer Ryan Terrell ( a.k.a. Eskimo Spy) doesn't let his game cool off for a second. Tonight, as part of the Eyeo Festival's closing party at Honey, he drops a new release entitled Plastic Single. Evoking everything awesome about cerebral dance music hitherto heard by these ears, this release is a seductive teaser for his forthcoming full-length Plastic Snacks. Further incentive to attend tonight's show (as if co-conspirators Low-Gain and Ostracon won't suffice) is the opportunity to pick up a handmade cassette copy of the release which includes a unique unreleased Aphex Twin cover (Each tape has a different version!). Pick it up it while it's hot!

Zomby-A Devil Lay Here

With Dedication on the way (July 11th, 4AD) Zomby is offering a free track called "A Devil Lay Here." A bouyant meditation in which jazz-laced rhythms swing to and fro about a devilishly simple melodic theme, the second single from Dedication is featured (with semblable "Basquiat")on a limited edition 7" anticipating the albums release. You can download the track in whatever format you prefer here.

From 4AD:

Ahead of the July 11th release of Zomby's 4AD debut album, Dedication, a new track has been made available today to download for free as both WAV and MP3 files. The track, 'A Devil Lay Here', is the perfect calling card for the album. Propelled by a haunting synth line and shot through with Zomby's characteristically melodic flourishes, 'A Devil Lay Here' encapsulates the dark night of the soul concerns that inform Dedication.

Spicoli/Ice Volt-Cassette Split

Either way, prepare to be unsettled in the best possible way!

John Maus-Head For The Country

In advance of his forthcoming release We Must Become The Pitiless Censors of Ourselves (Ribbon Music/Upset the Rhythm), John Maus offers an excellent video for his track "Head For The Country." A fantasy-infused, 80's-drenched stroll through his home town of Austin, MN, the track maximizes it's appeal with pop totem synth patches and deep, echo-laden vocals. Maus performs tomorrow at 7th Street Entry with Puro Instinct and Geneva Jacuzzi. Check it out!

Ostracon Release Show w/Dosh, Smyth, Ghostband & Rogue Citizen @ Honey Tomorrow!

Ostracon celebrates the release of Unauthorized Modifications (June 21st, Unearthed Music) tomorrow night at Honey in Minneapolis. The telepathic duo of John Keston (keyboards/programming) and Graham O'Brien (drums) have been honing their man vs. machine sound since at least 2009 (as evinced by this outstanding early recording Keston posted on his blog Audio Cookbook). In addition to the digital release, there will be a limited number of cassette copies of the album (with download code) available for purchase. The added firepower of Dosh, Smyth, Ghostband (also celebrating a new release) and visual artists Rogue Citizen make it an event not to be missed!
