Dosh, H.U.N.X. & DGK @ the Turf Club January 28th

Mixmaster Martin Dosh will be throwing down Friday, January 28th at the newly reopened Turf Club. He will be joined on this occasion by H.U.N.X. and DGK, two relatively new groups comprised of tried and true vets from various Twin Cities bands past and present. Occasionally augmenting their core with auxiliary members, H.U.N.X. consists of producer/programmer Mark McGee, keyboardist/vocalist Maggie Morrison, drummer/programmer Drew Christopherson, guitarist Adam Marx and bassist Ben Clark. They've been honing their sound every Wednesday at Nick and Eddie for the last few months, arriving at a dialectic of wistful beat-driven shoegaze and turbulent free rock symphony, mediated by a healthy undercurrent of electropop anthemic. DGK, initially and possibly still the rhythm section of an afrobeat band, has been referencing years of experience with jazz, funk, post-punk, dub, jungle and krautrock. Definitely a treat for drummer Tim Glenn, keyboardist John Keston and myself as bassist/bass clarinetist. With Dosh headlining the bill, I can pretty much guarantee you'll have no trouble finding something to dance to.
